Tambuwal Withdraws from Sokoto South Senatorial Race

Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has withdrawn from the 2027 Sokoto South Senatorial race.

‎The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has since endorsed former Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Faruk Yabo, as its consensus candidate for the seat.

‎Tambuwal, who represented Sokoto South in the Senate until 2023, was a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general elections but stepped down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

‎In a related development, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, Tambuwal’s deputy during his tenure as governor of Sokoto State, has emerged as the ADC’s consensus governorship candidate for Sokoto in 2027.
