Security operatives in Kogi State have intercepted a large cache of arms and ammunition allegedly meant for criminal groups planning retaliatory attacks in the state.

‎Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a report on X.
‎
‎According to a press statement by the Kogi State Government, the operation was carried out through coordinated efforts involving the state’s local security architecture, Hybrid Forces under the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
‎
‎The government said the seizure prevented what could have been a major security breach in parts of the state, but did not disclose the exact location of the interception or the quantity of arms recovered.
‎
‎Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the weapons and identify those behind the planned attacks.
‎
‎Kogi has in recent months witnessed heightened security operations as authorities battle kidnapping, banditry and communal clashes across several local government areas.
