The Katsina State House of Assembly has pledged to give speedy consideration and passage to the 2027 Appropriation Bill presented by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, made the pledge on Tuesday during the budget presentation at the Assembly Chamber in Katsina.
He described the presentation as significant because it is the last budget of the Governor’s first tenure and also the final budget of the 8th Assembly.
According to the Speaker, the Executive and Legislature have enjoyed a cordial working relationship in the last four years. He said the partnership has enabled the state to record progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and human capital development.
“On behalf of Honourable Members, I appreciate Your Excellency for your support to this House. We also commend you for the developmental projects and programmes across the state,” Daura said.
He noted that the 8th Assembly has passed over 50 Bills, several motions and carried out oversight functions in the interest of the people of Katsina State.
The Speaker assured the Governor that the House will study the 2027 budget and pass it within the shortest possible time to enable government to continue delivering services to the people.
He further declared the support of the Assembly for Governor Radda’s re-election bid for a second term. He also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Daura said it would be the last time he would receive the Governor as Speaker of the 8th Assembly. He thanked God for the opportunity to serve and urged returning and new members to remain united and committed to the progress of Katsina State.
The Speaker prayed that God would guide, protect and grant the Governor victory in his second term agenda.
The budget presentation was attended by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Garba Faskari; former Deputy Governor, Tukur Jikamshi; former Governor of Borno State, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu, rtd; members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, heads of government agencies, party leaders and other stakeholders.
