Kaduna Begins Statewide Reactive Vaccination Against Diphtheria

Kaduna State has commenced a statewide reactive vaccination exercise against diphtheria across all 23 Local Government Areas. The campaign will run from September 12 to 17, 2026.

‎Flagging off the campaign at the Primary Health Centre, Badarawa, the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmed, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting children through vaccination, early detection and rapid response.

‎She said health teams are being deployed to communities, markets and other public spaces, with support from radio, television and social media awareness campaigns to ensure maximum coverage.
‎
‎The Commissioner urged parents and caregivers to take all eligible children to designated vaccination points for protection against diphtheria.
‎
‎She also advised residents to watch for symptoms including fever, weakness, sore throat, cough, catarrh, and difficulty breathing or swallowing, and to seek medical care promptly.
