‎Police Arrest 3 FUTO Students Over Death of 100-Level Colleague

Imo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the death of 21-year-old Chinedu Chibuzor Christogonus, a 100-level Cyber Security student of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO.

‎The student, also a member of the Man O’ War organisation in FUTO, allegedly died on May 30, 2026, after being assaulted by some members of the organisation over an accusation of theft involving ₦13,500.

‎Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said preliminary investigation revealed the deceased was restrained and assaulted, sustaining critical injuries. He was rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, where he was confirmed dead.

‎The suspects in custody are 21-year-old Chukwuemeka Benedict, 24-year-old Kelechi Gospel Ikenna, and 21-year-old Anastasia Obioma — all 500-level students of FUTO.

‎Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Imo, Audu Garba Bosso, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Owerri, for comprehensive investigation.

‎He urged the public to remain calm while investigation continues.
