mo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for expanding its footprint in the South-East, describing it as crucial to economic stability.
‎
‎Uzodimma stated this following the commissioning of the South-East Zonal Directorate of the EFCC in Awka, Anambra State.
‎
‎”The economic stability we seek cannot work in isolation from the anti-graft agency, and I find it quite impressive that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has moved to expand its footprint in the South-East in this regard,” the governor said in a post on X.
‎
‎He noted that the commissioning of the zonal directorate is a major step towards bringing the Commission closer to the people.
‎
‎According to him, the decentralization of the Commission’s operations will save residents of the South-East the stress and cost of travelling to Lagos or Abuja to attend to EFCC-related matters.
‎
‎”It will also enhance accessibility, responsiveness, and efficiency in the fight against economic and financial crimes,” he added.
‎
‎The governor therefore appealed for the establishment of a branch office in Imo State to further extend the benefits to residents across the region.
