A former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung says rising insecurity and economic hardship could affect President Bola Tinubu’s re-election chances if not urgently addressed.
Dalung stated that many Nigerians are frustrated by insecurity, unemployment, and economic difficulties, which he described as voters’ main concerns ahead of future elections.
“The main offense that Tinubu would have committed in the eyes of voters would be insecurity,” he said.
He added that ordinary citizens have not benefited from government reforms, while only those in power appear better off. “The only people from 2023 to now that have been transformed are Tinubu and people in his government,” Dalung claimed.
The former minister also warned against rising tensions in parts of the Southwest, citing protests in Ibadan.
He urged government to address the grievances to avoid a repeat of past political crises.
