UTURU — The National Democratic Congress, NDC, in Abia North Senatorial Zone has adopted “Agenda 5/5” as its campaign strategy to secure victory across the five Local Government Areas in the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached on Monday, during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held at the country home of the party’s Governorship Candidate, Chief Ndubisi Etugo Ogah, in Onuaku, Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
The meeting was convened by the State Publicity Secretary, Rtn. Emeka Luis Okoro MNCS, in conjunction with the Abia North Zonal Chairman, Chief Okoro Okeke.
About 40 party leaders attended, including the Governorship Candidate, Chief Ndubisi Etugo Ogah; Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole; and House of Representatives Candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia, Hon. Ifeanyi Elvis. Also present were House of Assembly candidates, members of the State Working Committee, the five LGA Chairmen, and other key stakeholders.
The meeting focused on familiarisation among candidates and party officials, review of campaign challenges, and strategies for total victory.
The meeting availed LGA Chairmen opportunity to present grassroots feedback and proffer solutions on how to strengthen mobilisation, while other stakeholders called for a more inclusive campaign structure and deeper engagement at the grassroots.
Also, members of the State Working Committee raised concerns over the exclusion of the committee during candidates’ LGA tours, unauthorized press releases, poor propagation of the 5/5 slogan, inadequate representation of women, and the need for unity among all candidates.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Uko Nkole stressed the need for cohesion and discipline. He described former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the party’s major selling point and expressed confidence that the “Obi wave” would deliver victory for NDC in 2027.
In his remarks, the Guber candidate of the party, Chief Ndubisi Etugo Ogah called for peace and unity, stating that the period for internal contest was over. He said NDC was poised to give Abia North the opportunity to produce the next governor, an opportunity denied the zone in 2023.
He accused the current administration of deceit and urged party faithful to join hands to rescue the state. He assured stakeholders that all campaign logistics and funding would be provided in due time.
Chief Ogah further directed all candidates to align with the 5/5 campaign pattern and to ensure that campaign materials reflect the joint branding of Peter Obi, himself, his Deputy, and all other NDC candidates as a strategy to cross-sell the party.
The meeting ended with a commitment to strengthen internal coordination and consolidate mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.
