Six members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

‎The lawmakers are: Anthony Adebayo, Adedeji Olajide, Sunday Makanjuola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Fola Oyekunle and Adigun Adekunle.

‎Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced their defection on Tuesday during plenary after the Sallah break, while reading 13 letters from lawmakers switching parties.

‎The Oyo reps cited the protracted internal crisis and leadership tussle in the PDP as reason for leaving, saying they needed a political alternative for 2027.

‎The defection means Governor Seyi Makinde now has 6 out of the 14 Oyo Reps in the APM, after his own defection to the party.
