Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has said Nigeria and Cuba can build stronger ties in healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture and education.
Kalu disclosed this on Tuesday after receiving the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Miriam Morales Palmero, and Deputy Ambassador, Amb. Ana Flavia Gómez Pavot, on a courtesy visit to the National Assembly in Abuja.
“Our discussion focused on expanding cooperation in healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture, education, trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange, with emphasis on activating the Nigeria–Cuba Friendship Group in the National Assembly,” Kalu said.
He added that the House is committed to exploring avenues of collaboration that will leverage Nigeria’s market and youthful population while drawing from Cuba’s expertise in healthcare delivery, biotechnology, and sustainable development.
“A shared aspiration unites us, and I am confident that we will seize this opportunity to build a stronger partnership that delivers tangible benefits to our people, promotes mutual prosperity, and advances international cooperation between our two nations,” he said.
