…Corps Marshal Vows To Stamp Out Extortion, Abuse Of Authority
ABUJA — The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, has launched a nationwide operation aimed at stamping out unprofessional conduct, indiscipline, extortion, abuse of authority and all forms of misconduct during patrol operations.
In a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the directive takes immediate effect.
The Corps Marshal said the move is to continually strengthen public confidence in the FRSC by ensuring that every patrol operation reflects the highest standards of professionalism, transparency and accountability.
He reaffirmed that integrity, discipline and respect for human dignity remain the bedrock of the Corps’ operational philosophy.
New Directives To Commanding Officers
Under the new directive, all Commanding Officers across the country have been mandated to:
- Intensify supervision of patrol teams
- Strengthen ethical reorientation through regular lectures, parade sessions and pre-patrol briefings
- Ensure absolute compliance with the FRSC Establishment Act, operational guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures
The Corps Marshal warned that any officer found engaging in misconduct during patrol operations will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with FRSC regulations.
The FRSC said the crackdown is part of ongoing reforms to reposition the Corps for improved service delivery and public trust.
