Nigeria’s Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), and Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani have identified education, active citizenship, and community co-operation with security agencies as vital tools against banditry and terrorism.
They spoke during the commissioning of Kaduna Christian Academy, a school donated to the Christian community by friends of DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi.
General Musa described the school as a strategic non-kinetic approach to insecurity, stressing that lasting security can only be achieved by defeating ignorance and hopelessness through education.
He urged citizens to support security agencies with credible information, noting that terrorists and bandits often rely on local collaborators.
Representing Governor Uba Sani, Attorney-General James Kanyip reaffirmed the state’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, describing it as a powerful tool for development and social transformation.
Chairman of CAN for the 19 Northern States and FCT, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said education remains one of the most effective solutions to insecurity and poverty.
Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Professor Suleiman Adam, commended the DSS DG for promoting interfaith harmony, noting that a similar school had earlier been donated to a Muslim community in Kaduna.
