ASABA – Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has unveiled a US$100 million, approximately ₦133 billion, Viability Gap Fund to de-risk strategic investments and attract private capital into the state.
Speaking at the Delta Investment Summit 2026, #DIS2026, the Governor said the fund is designed to give investors greater confidence by bridging financing gaps in critical projects.
According to him, the Viability Gap Fund will provide partial capital support for bankable projects in priority sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, digital economy and infrastructure.
“This administration is backing opportunity with action. The VGF will reduce the cost and risk of doing business in Delta, while ensuring that impactful projects that create jobs and prosperity are delivered on time,” Oborevwori stated.
He added that the fund aligns with his MORE Agenda and is part of efforts to reposition Delta as the top investment destination in Nigeria.
The Governor noted that the state government will work with development partners, financial institutions and the private sector to manage and disburse the fund transparently.
With the launch of the VGF, Delta joins a growing list of sub-nationals leveraging innovative financing to unlock large-scale projects and drive shared prosperity.
