President Bola Tinubu has conveyed his sympathy to families of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, saying no parent should endure the pain of such attacks.

‎Reacting on Monday, the President said the Federal Government was intensifying efforts to secure the victims’ safe return.

‎“No child should be taken from the safety of a classroom. No parent should have to endure this anguish,” Tinubu stated on his official X account.

‎He announced the deployment of a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to strengthen operations for their release.

‎Tinubu also disclosed that the Federal Government approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government following a federal delegation’s visit to Esiele and Yawota communities.

‎The President added that the communities’ request for a military base in the area is receiving urgent consideration.

‎The victims were abducted on May 15 from schools in Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities, triggering concern over school safety and rural security in Oyo State.
