Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of collaborating with Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama, quoting security sources on X, said the suspect, Abdullahi Saidu Buba, a resident of Kwatan Yobe, was apprehended on June 1 following intelligence and surveillance operations by military personnel.
Makama said a tactical drone operated by the Naval Brigade Lake Chad sighted the suspect with individuals believed to be armed terrorists before the group dispersed.
The suspect was tracked while moving towards Charlie Company, 196 Amphibious Battalion, where troops intercepted and arrested him.
During preliminary interrogation, Buba admitted receiving N1,000 from suspected terrorists to purchase bread for them while travelling to Baga to visit his sick brother.
Military authorities said the suspect remains in custody for further investigation and necessary action.
