GUSAU — Bandits launched a deadly attack on communities in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday, killing two residents and five security personnel.
Security expert, Bakatsine, who reported the incident on X, said the attack targeted Marake and Kaura communities, with further destruction reported in Karazau.
According to Bakatsine, the gunmen set ablaze homes, a shop, three motorcycles and a vehicle during the attack.
He said five security personnel lost their lives while defending residents from the attackers.
”Despite the violence, security forces and local volunteers prevented the gunmen from overrunning the affected communities,” Bakatsine stated.
The security expert added that as families mourn the latest tragedy, residents are calling for urgent action to end the relentless cycle of bloodshed in the state.
”How many more innocent lives must be lost before lasting security becomes a reality in Zamfara?” he asked.
Efforts to get an official confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command were ongoing as of press time.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to banditry in Zamfara and other North-West states.
