Announcing the result collated from the 17 Local Government Areas on Tuesday, the returning officer, Chief Emmanuel Ukpom, said Onor polled 25,197 out of 25,197 votes to emerge as the sole candidate of the party through consensus.
He described the election as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
Earlier, the Abia State Chairman of the PDP, Elder Abraham Amah, commended members of the State Working Committee, the PDP National Working Committee, INEC, and security agencies for making the primaries successful.
Sandy Ojang Onor is an academic from Cross River State and former Senator for Cross River Central. He served in the 9th Senate from 11 June 2019 to 11 June 2023.
Onor succeeded John Owan Enoh and was succeeded by Eteng Jonah Williams. He was the PDP governorship candidate for Cross River State in the 2023 election but lost to Bassey Otu of the APC. He challenged the result at the tribunal.
