Police in Delta State have successfully rescued kidnapped victims across the State.

‎Confirming the operational breakthroughs against kidnapping and cult-related violence, police spokesperson in the state, Bright Edafe, said the police are poised to nip in the bud the growing insecurity on inter-state and rural roads.

‎Edafe revealed that five armed men, suspected of being kidnappers, reportedly blocked the Ewu–Ajekuta Road on February 2, 2026, at about 9:30 pm and forcibly abducted four occupants of a Toyota Sienna vehicle.

‎He said the operation carried out under the cover of darkness, highlights the audacity of criminal gangs operating across Nigeria’s highways.

‎Edafe stated that following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Otu-Jeremi immediately mobilised operatives in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes from the Ewu community.

‎He added that after a sustained pursuit, the abducted victims were successfully rescued and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

‎Speaking on items recovered, Edafe said two expended 7.5mm ammunition were recovered at the scene, while a manhunt is ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

‎Also in a separate operation on February 3, 2026, officers of the Ibusa Division raided a suspected cult gathering at Anioma Garden, Ugboli Quarters, Ibusa, following credible intelligence.

‎According to Edafe, one suspect, identified as Michael Ayauze, was arrested, and preliminary investigations allegedly linked him to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

‎He added that a search on the suspect led to the recovery of an English Beretta pistol, a live round of ammunition, and assorted charms, while other suspected cult members escaped during the raid.

‎Reacting to the feat, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, restated the command’s resolve to clamp down on kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes, urging residents to remain vigilant and support the police with timely information.
