Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called for a review of curricula in polytechnics and universities of technology to align with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence.
Uzodimma made the call while receiving a delegation of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, led by Comrade Chibuzor Asomugha, after the union’s workshop in Imo State.
He urged polytechnics to prioritise research in AI and emerging technologies, noting that obsolete curricula have widened Nigeria’s technological gap with industry needs.
The governor also condemned discrimination against polytechnic certificates, saying the institutions were established to provide technical and practical training critical to national development.
“By embracing innovation and aligning with global trends, these institutions will give the country a competitive advantage in the knowledge-driven economy,” he said.
