Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has declared that no child of school age should be found roaming the streets as schools reopen across the state.
Governor Fintiri said his administration has provided improved infrastructure, teaching personnel and instructional materials, adding that children found on the streets without valid reason will not be punished, but their parents will be traced and held accountable in accordance with the state’s education law.
He stated this on Tuesday when he received a delegation from the Catholic Church at the Government House, Yola.
Fintiri described the Catholic Church as a critical stakeholder in the state’s development and commended the Christian community for its support and prayers.
He said government alone cannot address all challenges without the cooperation of religious institutions, traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
The Governor said his administration has made substantial investments in infrastructure, education, human capital development, peace and security, while creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He noted that the growing number of businesses and hotels in the state shows that Adamawa is opening up for economic activities, urging investors to tap into opportunities in agriculture, livestock and solid minerals.
He acknowledged that no administration can complete all projects in eight years, noting that his government focused on laying a strong foundation for successive administrations.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Very Rev. Anselm Kachalla, who spoke through Sir John Ndasaya, commended Fintiri for his investments in infrastructure and human capital, particularly the renewal of road networks across the state.
The Saint Teresa’s Cathedral community also appreciated the Governor’s support for the Christian community and assured him of their prayers.
