OWERRI – Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described the successful conduct of the first robotics-assisted surgery at the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, as a historic milestone in the state’s healthcare delivery.

‎In a post on his X handle on Friday, the governor said the achievement marked a new chapter in his administration’s commitment to transforming healthcare in the state.

‎According to him, the hospital has been upgraded with a dedicated building for the Robotics Center, operated on a Public-Private Partnership, PPP, basis and equipped with modern facilities, advanced technology and improved medical infrastructure.

‎“I am proud that we are positioning Imo Specialist Hospital to provide quality, accessible, and world-class healthcare for Ndi Imo,” Uzodimma said.

‎The governor stated that beyond serving the people of Imo, the vision was to make the hospital a credible destination for medical tourism, attracting patients from across Nigeria and beyond.

‎“This milestone reaffirms our determination to build a healthcare system that inspires confidence, saves lives, and reflects the Imo we aspire to create,” he added.
