The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, service chiefs, Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu , and DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi to explain funds released to security agencies in the last six months.
The Green Chamber also invited Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and NIA Director-General Mohammed.
Lawmakers passed the resolution on Tuesday following motions on rising insecurity across the country.
They urged President Bola Tinubu to direct recruitment of forest guards in all insecure states, as done in Oyo State.
The resolutions came amid mass abductions in Oyo and Borno states last month. Over 40 students and teachers were kidnapped in Oyo, while scores were abducted in Borno, sparking nationwide protests by the Nigerian Union of Teachers and other groups.
President Tinubu in response to the Oyo attack, deployed a high-powered delegation led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, the NSA, and IGP Tunji Disu to the community.
Speaking during the engagement, Gbajabiamila said Tinubu was “disturbed” and determined to deploy every resource to secure the victims’ release.
The President also approved recruitment of 1,000 forest guards and directed a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to intensify efforts for the release of abducted pupils and teachers.
