Detectives of the Ifo Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a fleeing trailer driver, Temitope Omotayo Odulaja, ‘m’ 47, alongside Segun Suleiman ‘m’ 27, Haruna Olaogun ‘m’ 49, Jimoh Wasiu ‘m’ 42, and Quazzim Suleiman ‘m’ 49, over alleged conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property.
The operation also led to the recovery of parts of the stolen trailer, including the trailer head, and the uncovering of a suspected criminal syndicate allegedly engaged in dismantling stolen trailers.
According to the Command, the breakthrough followed a complaint lodged on *6th June, 2026* by the owner of the trailer who reported that his driver had absconded with the vehicle.
Acting on credible intelligence, detectives tracked and arrested Odulaja in Ikorodu, Lagos State on 24th July, 2026. He provided information that led to the arrest of the other four suspects in Ijebu-Ode on 25th July, 2026.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the stolen trailer was dismantled shortly after it was stolen and its components unlawfully disposed of. Photographs of the dismantled trailer have been taken as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the detectives for their professionalism and described the operation as a significant breakthrough against organised vehicle theft.
He urged transport operators and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police. He assured that the Command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to safeguard lives and property.
Investigation is ongoing, and all persons found culpable will be charged to court.
