The Ukwa La Ngwa Council of Elders has expressed confidence in Chief Eric Opah’s capacity to lead the All Progressives Congress, APC, to victory in the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.

‎In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Dr. Max Nduagibe, and Secretary General, Dr. Eugene Nwoha, the elders described Opah’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate as a strategic choice, given his background in business, industrial development and human capital empowerment.

The Council said Opah’s experience as an industrialist and entrepreneur could bring a fresh perspective to the management of the state’s economy and create opportunities for sustainable growth.

‎It said, “His experience, competence and commitment to public service place him in a strong position to provide purposeful, transparent and people-oriented governance.”

The elders further expressed the expectation that an Opah-led administration would prioritise infrastructure development, education, healthcare, commerce and employment creation.

According to the Council, “Abia requires leadership that can translate its enormous human and economic potential into tangible opportunities for the people.”

The group therefore called on Abians, particularly members and supporters of the APC, to unite behind the party’s candidate and work collectively towards victory in the 2027 governorship election.

‎It also urged APC stakeholders to put aside internal differences and build a cohesive political structure capable of presenting a strong challenge in the election.
