An Abia State Labour Party chieftain and immediate past State Secretary, Honourable John Onyekachi Igbojionu, has dismissed reports of alternative candidates emerging under the embattled Julius Abure-led faction in the state.
In a video, Igbojionu affirmed that the candidates produced under the leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman remain the authentic and prevailing candidates of the party in Abia State.
He said the Usman-led National Caretaker Committee is the structure recognised by the party and that any claim of a parallel list under Abure holds no weight in Abia.
The former state secretary urged party members and the public to disregard what he described as “rumours and distractions,” and to rally behind the candidates duly nominated through the proper channels.
Igbojionu maintained that the Labour Party in Abia is united under the Usman leadership and is focused on mobilising for victory in upcoming elections.
