As Abia State approaches the 2027 governorship election, the question on the lips of many Abians is not just who will govern, but who has the capacity to truly reposition the state.
In Chief Eric Opah, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, and his running mate, Dr. Godswill Agu Egbe, Abians have found an answer.
The duo are not accidental politicians. They are successful entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour. They are men who understand what it means to build from scratch, to create wealth, manage resources, provide jobs and sustain growth. These are tested, proven managers of men and materials, not mere political jobbers.
What else can Abians be asking for when they have the pairing of these two exceptional minds?
The Opah/Egbe ticket represents competence, industry and vision. At a time when Abia yearns for a paradigm shift from consumption to production, from rhetoric to results, this pairing offers a clear roadmap to economic rebirth.
If elected, they will ensure better repositioning of Abia State in various sectors — education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and human capital development. Their private sector experience will be brought to bear on public governance, ensuring efficiency, accountability and measurable impact.
Above all, they will industrialise Abia State. Abia, with its huge human capital, entrepreneurial spirit and strategic location, has all it takes to become Nigeria’s industrial hub. What has been missing is the right leadership with the right mindset. Chief Eric Opah and Dr. Godswill Agu Egbe embody that mindset.
They will create an enabling environment where Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the South-East, will regain its pride as a manufacturing giant. They will empower SMEs, attract foreign direct investment, revamp moribund industries and create sustainable jobs for our teeming youths.
Abia does not need trial and error in 2027. Abia needs men who have done it in the private sector and can replicate it in the public sector.
In Eric Opah and Godswill Agu Egbe, Abia has found its best combination for progress.
It is time for Abians to choose enterprise over excuses, productivity over propaganda, and prosperity over poverty.
