Security expert, Bakatsine, has reported that suspected Lakurawa fighters killed two people and occupied Kaya village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State for nearly seven hours on Friday.

‎According to Bakatsine, the gunmen arrived around 11am and forced residents to remain indoors while they rustled cattle from house to house.

‎At the time of Juma’at prayers, they went to the Izalah Central Mosque, made the call to prayer and led the prayers themselves as most residents stayed indoors out of fear.

‎He added that the attackers later looted shops and POS outlets, taking away goods and large sums of money before leaving the community around 5pm.

‎Bakatsine described the incident as “deeply disturbing,” questioning how long communities will be left exposed amid what he called “a complete breakdown of security.”

‎As of press time, the Sokoto State Police Command had not released an official statement on the attack.
