Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, has hinted why he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that the Governor had earlier in the week, announced his defection from the main opposition party to APC.
Governor Fubara who spoke at the government house in Port Harcourt on Friday while receiving the APC membership card from the party’s chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, said his decision was to identify with President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
According to him, his move is a spiritual assignment, adding that joining the APC gives the state opportunity to have a good working relationship with the president.
Fubara who expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the warm reception, emphasised that his decision to align with the APC was made in the interest of the state’s stability and development.
He also promised to strengthen the APC in the state, pledging that the party structure, members, and executives would receive his total support.
