The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Edo State Security Corps, ESSC, member, Mr. Stanley Emenin, 43, who died in the line of duty.
Accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, ACP Innocent Nkeamatara, Agbonika visited the family on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, at Idumodu Community, Igbanke.
Emenin sustained gunshot injuries on June 26, 2026, while taking part in a joint operation with Igbanke Division, ESSC operatives, hunters, and the Community Safety Partnership. The team was responding to the abduction of a 60-year-old farmer, Mr. Tuesday Osemeke.
The coordinated operation led to Osemeke’s rescue unharmed after a gun duel with suspected kidnappers, who fled with gunshot injuries. Emenin, however, died on Monday, June 29, 2026, at a hospital.
Describing Emenin as “brave, selfless, and patriotic,” Agbonika said his courage would not be forgotten. He conveyed the Command’s condolences to the family, friends, and the Igbanke Community, and prayed for God’s strength for them.
The CP assured the family that the vigilante’s sacrifice would not be in vain. He said the Command had reviewed its Community Safety Partnership framework to strengthen collaboration, improve intelligence sharing, and add safety measures to reduce casualties among personnel and volunteers.
He urged community-based security groups to remain steadfast, and assured them of the Command’s commitment to their welfare, safety, and capacity building.
The Command also said efforts were being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects. It added that Emenin’s memory would continue to inspire commitment to protecting lives and property.
