One suspected bandit was killed and a villager injured during a gun battle with police in Wakaji village, Dutsin-Ma LGA, Katsina State, on Monday night.
Security analyst, Bakatsine, reported the incident on X on Tuesday.
According to him, bandits stormed the village in an apparent cattle rustling operation. Officers from the Dutsin-Ma Police Division responded and engaged the attackers.
Police said several cattle scattered into nearby bushes during the exchange. The bandits escaped with 10 cattle.
A villager who sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder was taken to General Hospital, Dutsin-Ma, where he is receiving treatment.
