Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, has said that it is the desire of his administration to ensure that no family travel miles in search of basic healthcare, and no mother or child should be denied care because of location.
In a post on X on Monday, Mbah said the statement underpinned his administration’s decision to build and equip 260 modern Primary Healthcare Centres, one in each of Enugu State’s 260 wards, to bring quality healthcare closer to residents.
“This is why we are building and equipping 260 modern Primary Healthcare Centres across the 260 wards of Enugu State, bringing quality healthcare closer to the people,” he said.
The governor stated that beyond infrastructure, the project is about “restoring hope, protecting lives, and ensuring that every resident, especially those in rural communities, can access the care they deserve with dignity”.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a healthier Enugu “where no one is left behind and every life truly matters”, ending the post with “Tomorrow is here”.
The 260 PHCs project is part of Mbah’s broader health sector reform since 2023, which has included renovation of general hospitals, recruitment of medical personnel, and expansion of Enugu State Health Insurance Scheme coverage to rural areas.
