Tragedy has deepened following a bandit attack on Maikadauri village in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, with reports that a pregnant woman abducted during the raid gave birth in captivity but lost the baby.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, four women were abducted during the attack. One of them, heavily pregnant at the time, delivered a baby boy while in captivity. The newborn did not survive, Bakatsine added.
The mother is also said to be suffering from severe bleeding, raising fears for her condition as she remains in captivity.
The attack had earlier claimed the life of a sick patient.
A local vigilante member sustained gunshot wounds, while an elderly man and his son were brutally assaulted during the raid.
According to Bakatsine, families of those abducted have continued to endure anguish as they await news of their loved ones. Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on rescue efforts.
