A joint team of police officers, troops of 17 Brigade, and C-Watch repelled bandits in a heavy firefight around Dan Sarai axis, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State last night, security sources said.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, the bandits who were operating around Malumfashi LGA were ambushed by the joint security team.
The forces engaged them in a heavy firefight, forcing the criminals to retreat with gunshot wounds.
Two civilians were reportedly injured during the clash.
However, another bandit group allegedly exploited the security operation to launch a separate attack on Badawa village in the same LGA.
The attackers killed three residents and rustled cattle during the raid.
Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the incidents.
