Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have rescued six abducted children and arrested a 51-year-old man for conspiracy and child trafficking in Aba.

‎This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.

‎According to the statement, acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Aba North, arrested Nnamdi Lazarus, 51, from Mbano, Imo State, who resides in Uratta, Aba.
‎
‎The suspect was found harbouring six children: Nnenna Ogbuogu, 5, and Nwanne Ogbuogu, 3, both from Abiriba; Amanda Iheke Emmanuella, 3, Destiny Iheke Emmanuel, 7, and Anointing Iheke Emmanuel, 5, all from Item; and Ihechi Obasi, 7, also from Item.

‎The Command said all six children have been safely reunited with their families.
‎
‎It added that investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected child trafficking syndicate, and the suspect will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.

‎The Abia State Police Command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led policing and assured residents that there will be no hiding place for criminal elements in the state.
