The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered and dismantled an illegal local arms manufacturing facility in Koriya village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
‎
‎The raid, carried out following credible intelligence, marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb illicit weapons proliferation in northwest Nigeria.
‎
‎The operation, led by Katsina State Commandant Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, is part of intensified security measures amid rising concerns over armed violence. NSCDC operatives stormed the facility around 10am, dismantling a fully operational illegal arms workshop.
‎
‎Four suspects: Haruna Lawal, Badamasi Kabiru, Hamza Lawal, and Sagir Abba were arrested.
‎
‎In a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday, security expert Bakatsine, said security personnel recovered eight locally fabricated firearms, two Jincheng-branded machines, and tools used in producing improvised weapons.
‎
‎”The discovery highlights the growing challenge posed by clandestine arms production networks fueling insecurity across parts of northern Nigeria,” said security expert Bakatsine. Investigations are ongoing to identify collaborators and trace buyers.
‎
‎Commandant Moriki re-affirmed the Corps’ commitment to disrupting illegal arms supply chains, commending local residents for providing intelligence. The suspects will face prosecution.
