The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Sir Uzoma Ihuka, has promised a data-driven approach to youth empowerment and constituency development if elected.
Ihuka, who served as President of the Ngwa Patriots Forum, said it is imperative to rely on a comprehensive needs assessment of communities in Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency.
He emphasised that records from the previous exercise are still available and can guide him in planning the best way to reach people in the constituency with different needs.
“You can’t empower somebody without asking the person. You can’t bump somebody’s head in his absence. If we’re giving you a motorcycle, it will be you requesting for a motorcycle. If it’s a trade, it will be you requesting to learn a trade. That’s what we’re going to do,” he said.
He referenced a similar E4E “Education for Employment” exercise and said the same model would be adopted.
According to him, the needs of youths in areas with daily markets in Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency would differ from those in communities without daily markets. He added that proper data collection is necessary before any intervention and empowerment.
