The Confederation of African Football, CAF, says it will investigate the behaviour of players and officials during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
Recall that the game between Senegal and host, Morocco in Rabat descended into chaos towards the full time after two refereeing decisions went against Senegal.
Also during the night, Ismaila Sarr’s goal was cancelled, before the Atlas Lions were awarded a penalty, which Brahim Diaz eventually missed.
But the call and agitations that followed after, led to Senegal fans kicking off in the stands, with the players and coaches also becoming involved.
Senegal coach, Pape Thiaw, then ordered his players off the field, before they were called back by Sadio Mané.
Responding to the development after, CAF said in a statement that the Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.
Continuing, “CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.
CAF added that it is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.
