ABUJA – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on the global community to strengthen commitment to advancing healthy breastfeeding practices for mothers and children.
In a message to mark this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7, with the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works”, the First Lady said breastfeeding lays the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development.
She described breastfeeding as a vital investment in families and the nation, noting that it contributes to better health outcomes and national development.
Senator Tinubu also encouraged nursing mothers to embrace healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods to support their well-being and that of their children.
World Breastfeeding Week is observed annually to promote breastfeeding and improve infant and maternal health worldwide.
