UMUAHIA – PDP governorship hopeful Dr. Kelechi Anosike has pledged to recall and reinstate 10,000 workers allegedly retired prematurely in Abia State if he wins the 2027 election.

‎Anosike, who spoke at a series of town hall meetings across the state, said his government would follow due process in public service and protect workers’ rights.
‎
‎”As a welfarist, we play by the rules. If the law says you work for 35 years or retire at 60 years of age, that is what should apply,” he said.
‎
‎He accused previous administrations of disregarding civil service regulations to the detriment of families and the state economy. According to him, reinstating affected workers would not only restore dignity but also inject experience back into the public service.

‎”When you throw 10,000 breadwinners out of work illegally, you create 10,000 households in crisis. A responsible government must correct that injustice,” Anosike stated.

‎The PDP Guber candidate also promised to roll out a state health insurance scheme and tackle food insecurity, saying “when I assume office in 2027, you will have three square meals and even snacks in between.”

‎On healthcare, he said his administration would subsidize treatment for low-income families and pregnant women to reduce out-of-pocket expenses.
‎
‎He said his administration would prioritise “building lives before building infrastructure,” arguing that a healthy and well-fed workforce was the foundation for any meaningful development in Abia.
