Bandits reportedly stormed a Sharia Court in Gwarjo community, Matazu LGA of Katsina State, on Wednesday while court proceedings were underway, forcing the presiding judge, Mohammed Muktar, to escape through a window to avoid being captured.

‎Security expert Bakatsine reported the incident on Thursday.
‎
‎The attack triggered panic among court staff and members of the public. There were no immediate reports of abductions or casualties. Security authorities are said to be investigating the incident.

‎The incident is the latest indication that insecurity is increasingly threatening public institutions and the administration of justice in parts of northwest Nigeria.
‎
‎”If judges can no longer preside over cases safely, what does this mean for access to justice and the rule of law in conflict-affected communities?” the report asked.
