Bandits have reportedly killed one resident and injured another in an attack on Ta-Marke community in Tsiga district of Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State.

‎The attack which occured on Thursday night at about 9pm, reportedly led to the abduction of Alhaji Dahiru Mai Shago, who is believed to be the community’s wealthiest person.

‎In a post on his official X handle, Bakatsine, a security expert, said the incident occurred despite an earlier peace agreement alleged to have been reached between stakeholders in the LGA and bandit groups operating in the axis led by notorious bandits kingpin Isiya Akwashi Garwa.

‎According to Bakatsine, residents and stakeholders of the community are wondering how sustainable and effective are these peace agreements in truly safeguarding vulnerable communities?

‎Bakatsine wrote: “Bandits invaded Ta-Marke community in Tsiga district of Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, around 9PM last night. During the attack, one resident was killed, another sustained injuries, and the community’s wealthiest person, Alhaji Dahiru Mai Shago, was abducted.”
