Funeral prayers were held on Friday for 17 people killed by bandits in Goran Namaye community, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

‎Posting on his verified X handle, security expert Bakatsine, said the victims died when gunmen attacked the farming community, marking the latest in a series of violent incidents that plagued Zamfara in recent months.

‎Previous mass burials in the state included 23 farmers killed in Gidan Jaja in March 2026 and 16 residents murdered in Bagega community in January 2026.

‎Residents gathered at the community mosque to observe Janazah prayers for the 17 deceased.

‎Islamic clerics led the prayers and urged Allah to grant the victims mercy and accept them as martyrs.

‎The tragedy underscored the ongoing security challenges facing communities across Zamfara and the North-West region.

‎Attacks by armed groups displaced thousands of residents and disrupted farming activities that formed the backbone of the local economy.

‎Community members continued to pray for lasting peace, stability, and security across Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole, even as they mourned the latest losses.
