Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He stated this after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing the move on Thursday, Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, popularly known as Abba, said his decision was personal and historic, calling on members of his political structure, the Haske Atiku Organisation, to join him in the APC and support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), Mustapha Salihu, welcomed him, describing the defection as symbolic.
Abubakar Atiku Abubakar was received by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, alongside APC leaders from the North-East.
Responding to his defection to APC, Senator Barau praised the move, saying the decision is based on ideology.
