Security forces have foiled another mass abduction attempt by armed bandits in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, rescuing 18 victims.
The victims, 14 females and four males, including children and toddlers, were reportedly abandoned by the bandits after security operatives blocked their escape route.
Traditional rulers in Bakori, in a statement, commended the military, DSS and local vigilantes for acting on intelligence to disrupt the planned attack.
The statement adds that at least seven fleeing bandits were reportedly injured, while a 14-year-old rescued victim sustained a gunshot wound and is receiving treatment.
It further notes that the operation comes less than two weeks after security forces foiled another mass abduction attempt in Gidan Iyado, also in Bakori, where 18 bandits were reportedly killed.
