Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralized 2 terrorists and recovered weapons and motorcycles during an operation in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

‎This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
‎
‎According to him, the operation followed credible intelligence received in the early hours of August 28, 2026, on the movement of terrorists conveying hundreds of rustled cattle through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.
‎
‎Acting on the intelligence, troops of Sector 2 moved to intercept the terrorists but encountered an ambush.
‎
‎The statement said the troops responded with superior firepower, neutralized 2 terrorists and forced the others to flee into nearby bushes.
‎
‎An exploitation of the area led to the recovery of 2 AK-47 rifles and 3 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
‎
‎During the firefight, the rustled cattle dispersed into the bushes. Efforts are ongoing in conjunction with local vigilantes to locate and recover the livestock.

‎Lieutenant Colonel Danja added that the general area remains calm as troops continue to dominate and maintain vigilance to prevent further terrorist activities.

‎He assured that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains resolute in sustaining operational momentum against terrorist and criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area.
