The Labour Party, Ukwa Federal Constituency, on Wednesday presented its candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Woke, to the Traditional Rulers Council of Ukwa West LGA.
The presentation was made as party leaders stressed that in a constitutional democracy, “power is borrowed, not owned,” and that those who misuse it eventually return it, “whether willingly or by force of the ballot.”
Describing the introduction as “a new face, a new dawn for Ukwa people,” party officials said the candidate’s emergence signals the Labour Party’s commitment to people-driven representation in the constituency.
Speaking at the event, the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Woke, said synergy with traditional rulers is essential for development.
He said traditional institutions remain critical partners in governance and community development, and noted that any meaningful progress in Ukwa East and Ukwa West must involve the royal fathers.
Responding, the traditional rulers, through their Chairman, His Royal Majesty Eze Chinyere Dike, lauded the party for deeming it necessary to introduce its candidate.
They expressed delight that the candidate recognises the critical role of traditional rulers in bringing development to the people.
The royal fathers wished him success as he begins consultations and solicits support from the people when campaigns commence.
Engr. Woke was formally introduced to the council of traditional rulers as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
