KAURA NAMODA — Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 48 abducted residents after repelling a large-scale bandit attack on Magami village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State in the early hours of Sunday.
According to a report by security analyst Bakatsine, military sources said the attackers, riding about 40 motorcycles, had rounded up dozens of villagers before troops responded to a distress call.
The troops engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight and forced the attackers to flee, leaving the captives behind.
Sadly, one resident was killed in the attack, while two others sustained gunshot wounds. The injured are currently receiving treatment at General Hospital, Kaura Namoda.
Military authorities said troops have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks.
The rescue comes hours after another attack was reported in Magami Dantoro village, Gabake Ward, where one person was killed and property looted.
