Former Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Chairman/CEO of Zara Ltd; AG-Zara Construction Ltd, Sir Chuku Wachuku, on Monday celebrated his Chief Press Secretary, Jaja Martins, on his birthday, describing him as a dependable and committed aide.
In a goodwill message personally signed and made available to journalists, Sir Wachuku said this:
“To truly understand Jaja Martins, (King J), is to gain a masterclass in wisdom for the upcoming generation. He epitomises the very traits too often lacking in today’s youth: unyielding hard work, absolute dedication, unshakeable trust, candid truth, and a fierce refusal to depend on the superficial handouts of ‘Non-Empowering Empowerments.’
My Chief Press Secretary, whom I fondly call ‘King J,’ is the living definition of self-reliance.
Following the 2023 elections, armed with only the modest assistance I extended to all my aides, Jaja didn’t wait to be spoon-fed. Instead, he took his destiny into his own hands and built a flourishing, self-reliant school from the ground up—a testament to his profound self-confidence.
The contrast between his mindset and the prevailing culture of entitlement is stark, serving as a direct lesson to the youth who prefer to criticise rather than build: While King J is busy forging ahead, driven by a legacy of resilience, those trapped in a lazy, infantile dependency mindset remain on the sidelines begging for handouts. They even have the audacity to say, ‘Tell your Oga to come and do empowerment.’ This is the clear dividing line between enduring success and a laggard existence.
Furthermore, as we actively champion the ‘transfer of power to the next generation,’ some of the intended beneficiaries exhibit absolute buffoonery and a complete lack of self-awareness. Instead of grabbing the opportunity, they ignorantly question the timing of the message—proving they lack the understanding and confidence to lead.
King J deserves the highest honours today for his leadership, honesty, and unwavering dedication. While others play the blame game and wait to be spoon-fed, King J rises above the noise, grabbing his future with both hands. If the next generation is to rise, they must first escape the paralysing trap of their ‘Entitlement Mentality.’ Jaja has risen to that dictum completely.
Guess what? King J is destined for monumental heights.
Meanwhile, those blinded by ‘entitlement mentality’ shall still be expecting the half-paints of rice, repainted motorcycles, and oké béké buses!
My family and I honour you on this special day, Jaja Martins—our own King J! The future belongs to you and to everyone who shares your exceptional qualities and vision.
Very soon, as you well know ‘what’s cooking,’ the rest of the world will rise to applaud you too.
With gratitude and sincerity,
Chuku Wachuku & Family”
