There is tension at No. 8 Okai Street, off Ohanku Road, Aba, Abia State, following the alleged abduction of a property owner, Mr. Uchenna Mgbuma, over a disputed family property.
Mgbuma, who jointly owns the property with his brother, Obiora Reuben Mgbuma, by inheritance from their late father, Reuben Nwafor Mgbuma of Umuduru, Achala Village, Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, alleged that some individuals, whom he described as his brothers, are conniving with thugs to forcefully dispose of the property despite a subsisting court injunction.

In a petition dated 16th October, 2026, filed through his counsel, Mazi Davidson Esq., and forwarded to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, on the directive of the Inspector General of Police, the petitioners accused Mr Olisa Mgbuma, Mr Celestine Ikechukwu Okoroafor and Mr Ikemefula Ikeweta and others now at large of attempted murder, abduction, threat to life, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, conspiracy and unlawful invasion of property.
According to the petition, the incident occurred on 30th June, 2026, when Obiora Reuben Mgbuma visited tenants at the said property.

The petition further alleges that the suspects stormed the premises, abducted him to the residence of Celestine Ikechukwu Okoroafor, popularly known as Abubakar, where he was beaten, tied with rope and forced under duress to sign a document authorizing the sale of the joint property within one week, with threats to kill him if he refused.
Narrating his recent ordeal to journalists, Uchenna Mgbuma said he was whisked away in a vehicle branded with Governor Alex Otti’s image to the residence of Celestine Ikechukwu Okoroafor, where he was subjected to beating and intimidation.
He decried the activities of thugs allegedly groomed by Celestine Ikechukwu Okoroafor around the Okai Street, Ohanku axis, stating that they have made life unbearable for residents and property owners.

Mgbuma advised individuals against using the name and branded vehicles of Governor Alex Otti to perpetrate crime, noting that the use of such vehicle in his alleged abduction was intended to intimidate him.
He displayed copies of the petition to the IGP and the court injunction restraining the suspects from entering the land, lamenting that despite the court order, the suspects have remained bent on taking over the property.
He called for justice and appealed to the police and relevant authorities to intervene urgently to avert breach of peace and possible loss of life, stressing that he and his brother remain law-abiding citizens.
The directive from the office of the IGP urged the AIG, Zone 9, to investigate and submit report, provided the matter is not under investigation elsewhere.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Mr Olisa Mgbuma, Mr Celestine Ikechukwu Okoroafor and Mr Ikemefula Ikeweta for their reactions were ongoing.
