The Abia State Police Command has arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of firearms and recovered a locally made pistol and an auto rickshaw in Aba.
The suspects were identified as David Emmanuel, 33, and Joel Emeka, 25.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, operatives of the Ndiegoro Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted an auto rickshaw on June 12, 2026 during stop-and-search duty along Azikiwe Road by Kent Road, Aba.
“During the operation, one of the occupants fled the scene, while the other two suspects were immediately apprehended. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of the exhibits,” the statement read.
Exhibits recovered include: one locally made pistol, one live ammunition, live cartridges, one small black bag and one auto rickshaw.
DSP Chinaka said the suspects are in police custody and investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, adding that they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
